Above the Rest; Where can you find insightful, independent analyses of companies? The truth is out there. - by Ann Monroe, Bloomberg Personal Finance May 1, 2001
…More useful to the individual investor, especially when used in tandem, are www.validea.com and www.bulldogresearch.com.
Validea tracks recommendations made in the media by analysts, money managers,
commentators, and yes, even financial journalists, tracing the performance of the stock from the moment it was mentioned.
…Turning to Validea, you'll find that Jones doesn't do a lot of media stock-picking, but that the stocks he has recommended have done pretty well. And by clicking on the tickers for those stocks,
you can get summaries of his reasons for touting them, with links to some of the full magazine articles in which he was quoted. The two together give you some sense of how Jones thinks and whether
his reports might be worth getting. Before long, says Justin Carbonneau, director of content at Validea, you'll also be able to get e-mail alerts whenever a favorite analyst is quoted.
